HIGHLY RATED & HARD WEARING:Every bearing in the Better Bearings range is now an ABEC 9 classification. Lickety Splits are easy to clean, super reliable choice for long term use. ABEC ratings are an industry standard with the higher the number the more speed it gives skaters. Better Bearings choose highly rated bearings for the level of attention and quality that is received during the design and manufacturing.
BREAKING BAD:Better Bearings are pre-spun during the quality testing phase at the factory, however (like all bearings), they're not going to spin fast and free right out of the packaging, because they're packed pre-lubed to protect them while waiting for you to give them a new home.
SPACERS AND SIDELOADING:Sideloading is when all the pressure is put on one side of the bearings, which slightly changes where the ball bearings and the race surface touch and the axis of the bearing. Better Bearings only use the hardest wearing materials in order to deal with this issue. Using spacers can help the structural integrity of the setup, however, there were no issues in testing them without spacers.
TWICE INSPECTED & STAKER TESTED:Better Bearings are inspected twice. Once before the bearings leave the factory and once the package are handed over. Pro Skaters were asked to the test the bearings, by skating them and treating them like riders usually do. The test team comes from all over Australia. They train on nice floors, dirty floors and outdoors. They went to the skate park, rolled through beer and glitter and played a lot.
ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY PRODUCTION & CHARITY:The bearing packaging and tough nuts box is made from 100% recycled paper and is biodegradable and the cleaning products are environmentally safe. The bearing packing is made from recyclable cardboard, the order packaging for wholesale is repurposed boxes and packaging. The bearing wash is drain friendly. Brand also is highly conscious about giving back, where in a percentage of the proceeds from sales goes to UN Women Australia.
If a standard pencil fits through your bearings they are 8mm. If it wont fit they are 7mm. Most new skates come with 8mm as standard. Roll-Line Plates are 7mm.

When I checked in, they welcomed me by name and everytime I bumped into the shop manager, she always asked if I was doing okay BY Name. When my brother banged up his arm, they were generous in bandaging it for him. And they lent me some tools to fix a flat. The shuttle ride became my favorite part as we chatted and got to know the other riders that day. I went in skeptical, but the amenities and service won me over. Howler is something special and needs to be experienced!
